The procedure, we use to qualify a new material and a new supplier, is shown in the flowchart.

Decision upon approval of a new material is based on:

• Compliance with ISO TS 16949:2002 (in special cases ISO 9001:2000 sufficient) and with OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Environmental and Social Requirements
  
• Quality Audit
  
• Signed purchase specification
  
• Samples
• PPAP documentation

For some key materials it can be necessary to stipulate a Quality Assurance Agreement (QAA).

Possible outcomes of the qualification process, communicated to the Supplier by a Qualification Note, are: "Approved", "Release action required", and "Rejected".
