OSRAM Recognized for Industry Leadership in Solid-State Lighting by Architectural SSL Magazine
OSRAM SYLVANIA, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and Traxon Technologies Honored with 2011 Product Innovation Awards
North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA and sister companies OSRAM Opto Semiconductors and Traxon Technologies were honored as the recipients of multiple 2011 Product Innovation Awards (PIA) by Architectural SSL Magazine. A testament to its industry leadership and innovative technologies, OSRAM received six awards across its three divisions, including four platinum and two silver-level awards.

OSRAM SYLVANIA, the leading provider of lighting solutions in North America, was recognized by Architectural SSL’s PIA program with two platinum awards. The lighting leader’s revolutionary LEDstixx Lighting System for vertical freezer, refrigeration and display case lighting received top honors in the Specialty Lighting category, with judges commenting that LEDstixx “is an excellent match of LED retrofit and application need…” OSRAM SYLVANIA also took the top prize in the category for Best OLED Source for its ORBEOS OLED Module, the industry’s first commercially available organic light emitting diode (OLED) solution. ORBEOS received further recognition as the light source featured in a chandelier fixture by WAC Lighting, which won the silver PIA in the Decorative/Pendant category. Additionally, OSRAM SYLVANIA was given an honorable mention in the Arrays/Sources category for its PrevaLED Light Engine, a compact LED module with high system efficiency.
OSRAM Opto Semiconductors, an OSRAM subsidiary responsible for semiconductor technology for lighting, sensor and visualization applications, was selected by the PIA judges as the platinum winner for “Industry Participation.” The prestigious award recognizes OSRAM Opto Semiconductors for being consistently involved in a combination of education, advancements in forwarding standards, appearing and speaking at conferences and facilitating the free exchange of ideas to advance the development of solid-state lighting. The judges commented, “OSRAM has many highly qualified individuals actively involved at all levels of education and standards discussion,” and OSRAM’s LED Light Site was also referenced in demonstrating the company’s industry leadership. Additionally, OSRAM Opto Semiconductors received a silver award in the category of Arrays/Sources for its highly compact, high efficiency OSLON SSL LEDs.
Traxon Technologies, an OSRAM company and global leader in solid-state lighting and control systems, earned a platinum award for “Most Beautiful Application of White LED Light,” for the installation of its 1PXL Board Warm White LED fixtures at the David H. Koch Theater in New York’s historic Lincoln Center. The judges commented that Traxon’s fixtures were “cleverly applied” and stated that the installation is a “very nice and appropriate use of LED technology.” Traxon Technologies’ Wall Washer Shield AC XB was also recognized by PIA, receiving the silver award in the category of Architectural/Flood Lighting.
The Architectural SSL Product Innovation Awards (PIA) determine and honor the best LED/solid-state luminaires and fixtures on the market, while also recognizing the companies behind the components that make up these light sources. The PIA program recognizes leaders in categories ranging from those conducting cutting-edge R+D, to those helping in the development of standards, as well as those pushing to make solid-state lighting a truly sustainable technology. OSRAM and its subsidiaries are honored to be recognized for their leadership and innovation in solid-state lighting.
