Highly efficient, state-of-the-art LED lamp
At the Light & Building trade fair, Herkules Elektronik GmbH presents a high-efficiency LED lamp of the latest generation to the market. It is accommodated in a modern, robust die-cast aluminium housing with an eye-catching design providing protection class IP 65.
Inside the housing, the high-efficiency LED modules with the OSRAM Opto Semiconductors Golden DRAGON Plus emitters are mounted on the bottom of a specially developed thermal drainage device. Efficient thermal coupling is provided by the high-quality IMS substrate of the module using a thermally conducting silicon elastomer – a technology similar to LED modules used in the automobile industry.
With a system energy requirement of only 31 / 62 Watt, these LED lamps generate a light yield of 2,300 / 4,600 lumens. To protect the system against excessive temperature, a control loop with temperature measurement is fitted on the LED module. An LED failure protection circuit ensures additional safety. The implemented lowered night-time lighting circuit can further reduce the output of the economic circuitry to 55%, i.e. another improvement of the successful energy balance is realised.
The LED with a luminous flux higher than 100 lm/Watt is equipped with a primary oval optical lens, which distributes the light regularly in the target area. Thus light smog is prevented and the efficiency is concentrated on the target area.
The lamps are ideal for street lighting, as efficient lighting for parking spaces or for lighting tasks in factory courtyards and loading zones.

Optimum surface lighting using LEDs with integrated optical lenses
With the PARA I and PARA II LED lamps, Herkules Elektronik GmbH launches two high-efficiency, low-energy products into the market. The compact, flat construction of the die cast aluminium housing permits flexible, pivoted mounting on plane surfaces or on masts by means of an attachable adaptor.
The lamps are ideal for use as street lamps in the residents’ area, for efficient lighting of parking spaces, or for lighting tasks in factory courtyards and loading zones.

LED retrofit kit for “Koffer” luminaires
In cooperation with the Kassel lighting main operator “Städtische Werke AG Kassel“, Herkules Elektronik GmbH has developed a retrofit kit (based on Golden DRAGON LED) for replacement of mercury vapour lamps. The retrofit kit for replacement of the inefficient QE 50 W was developed for the “koffer”-type housing, which is seen frequently in the city of Kassel.
The old light sources were removed and replaced by an LED module with a suitable electronic power supply.
With an energy consumption of only 26 Watt, these latest generation LED lamps offer twice the light density compared to the old lamps.
Moreover, a lowered night-time lighting circuit permits dimming to 14 Watt without loss – an additional saving potential for lean budgets.
Until the middle of 2011, Städtische Werke AG will modernise about 2,000 lamps in the city of Kassel. This will be the first city-wide project for installation of LED retrofit kits in Germany, with pioneering character relating to the ecological and economical use of electric energy, one of our most important resources.

LED family for streetlighting
OSRAM’s Golden DRAGON LED family is dedicated for application in tunnel and streetlighting. Latest member in the product family is the Golden DRAGON oval Plus.
This LED provides with its new integrated lens perfect illumination for energy-efficient street lighting without the need for secondary optics. Its oval radiation pattern delivers directed light, ideal for street lighting and reduces the effort for this application considerably.
Golden DRAGON oval Plus has been developed as an ‘easy to use’ LED solution specifically for street lighting. With its oval beam characteristics (80° vertical, 120° horizontal) and integrated long-life silicone lens it meets the special requirements for energy-efficient street lighting and minimal light pollution. The light is directed precisely on the area to be illuminated - with no upward stray light.
