Conferences 2007
17.-19. June 2007
LASER World of Photonics - EOS Conference on Trends in Optoelectronics Munich, Germany
"LED Lighting - Achievements and Challenges from a Manufacturer's Perspective", Dr. Ruediger Mueller
The presentation covers achievements and challenges with different solid state lighting applications. Large screen LCD backlighting, front projection, automotive headlamp and general lighting solutions are investigated.
"Power LED for General Lighting", Thomas Zeiler
Power LEDs penetrate very fast the general lighting market. What is the today's status of LED capability? What kind of challenges are ahead?
4.-7. June 2007
Photonics North, 3rd Annual Executive Symposium on Phontonics Commercialization Ottawa, Canada
"Closing the Gap between theory, development and application" Tom Shottes
The technology to enhance driver awareness and passenger/pedestrian protection is no longer a future vision. With today's LED, IR and Laser technologies automotive safety can be increased - from Heads Up Displays to Drowsy Driver Alerts - SSL has gone from theory to application.
21.-25. May 2007
SID, Long Beach, CA, USA
"RBG Laser for Mobile Projection Devices", Ulrich Steegmueller, Michael Kuehnelt, Heiko Unold, Thomas Schwarz, Roland Schulz, and Frank Singer
Recent advances in small form factor lasers for mobile projection devices are discussed. Based on semiconductor solutions, efficient and very compact full color laser modules are realized, suitable both for imager and scanning beam type laser projection systems.
20.-23. May 2007
WOCSDICE 2007, in Venice, Italy
"Recent advances in GaNIn LEDs", Dr. Berthold Hahn
New generations of InGaN-based thinfilm chips show increased efficacies and power output. Due to the ThinGaN concept the brightness and effiencies are scalable to larger chip sizes. In commercially available packages they offer new application possibilities.
16.-19. April 2007
SAE World Congress Detroit, MI, USA
"Characteristics of LED Performance in underhood applications", Joseph Edward Jablonski
Under-hood applications present more difficult requirements such as a higher operating temperature. Most of the latest High Power Devices offered by LED manufactures have been qualified to operate at the higher temperatures, but not every application needs the latest high power device. The presentation will look into some possible under-hood applications using LEDs and the characteristics of the LEDs under the extreme temperature environment (impacts to Lifetime, Color, and Intensity).
06.-07. March 2007
LED in der Lichttechnik Essen, Germany
"State of the art - High Power LEDs: Comparison of parameters, performance examples, trends", Dr. Gunnar Moos
The emerging applications in field of general lighting require a careful specification of LED requirements as well as considering technical factors (e.g. optical, thermal and mechanical design) and logistics.
27.-28. February 2007
LEF 2007, Bayerisches Laserzentrum, Erlangen, Germany
"Laser und IREDs für die Opto-Sensorik im Automobil", J. Heerlein, W. Rothmund, C. Rüth, et.al.
Wir geben einen Überblick über Anwendungen von optischen Sensoren im Automobil und zeigen Beispiele von Infrarot-LEDs und -Laserdioden. Ergänzt wird ein Ausblick über Laserdisplays mit neuen RBG Halbleiterlasern.
31. January - 2. February, 2007
ICDL 2007, Seoul, Korea
"The transition from CCFL to LED and its difficulty for color specification", Hubert Ott
The industry's interest in using LEDs for LCD backlighting continuously increased over the last two years. However, the state-of-the-art lamp technology for this application is still the CCFL type of lamp up to now. A human factor study showed up clearly that specifications of backlight units using CCFLs do not apply for LED backlights.
23.-24. January 2007
6. ETP Fachkongress Straßenbeleuchtung 2007, Köln, Germany
"LED in street lighting - current technology and future", Monika Rose, Dr. Gunnar Moos
LED technology offers distinct advantages to public outdoor lighting and is ready to capture significant volumes within the street lighting market.
20.-25. January, 2007
SPIE Photonics West 2007, San Jose Convention Center, San Jose, California, USA
"Monolithically stacked high-power diode laser bars in quasi-continuous-wave operation exceeding 500 W", Martin Müller
Results on monolithically stacked high power semiconductor lasers under q-cw operation are reviewed. Output powers of more than 500 W have been demonstrated with high wall plug efficiencies at wavelengths of 808 and 940 nm.
"Requirements on LEDs for advanced optical system", Joachim Reill, Alexander Wilm
Introduction of benefits and requirements of LED light sources in advanced optical systems like projectors and automotive headlamps.
"A New Wafer Level Coating Technique to Reduce the Color distribution of LEDs", B. Braune, K. Petersen, et.al.
A new chip level coating technique for Color on Demand (COD) applications is described. It provides narrow color coordinate distributions and the generation of artificial COD wafers.
