A day in the life
Irene Komma
Hello! My name is Irene Komma, I am 36 years old and married. After graduating in Chemistry, I researched my Ph.D. thesis on the manufacture and investigation of unicrystalline substances. I was then employed by a company where I worked on new methods for the deposition of thin layers from the gas phase. At OSRAM Opto Semiconductors I had the opportunity to combine the experience I had gained in my studies and my previous job – so I accepted a post with the company as a MOVPE-process engineer.
As a process engineer, it is my job to investigate, improve and stabilise epitaxy processes. I also manage and take an active role in projects. I am especially proud of our "ThinFilm technology" project. Not only was I involved in the project but the technology was awarded the German Future Prize 2007!
As well as helping to plan and coordinate wafer production with the goal of optimising stock levels for manufacturing, I am also responsible for negotiations with suppliers. Last year, I was also assigned disciplinary responsibility for three shift groups in the manufacturing operation, which makes my work even more interesting.
At OSRAM Opto Semiconductors I particularly value being part of a young dynamic team, the flexible working hours and the opportunities to improve my skills through further training. Most of all I enjoy the variety, which is guaranteed by the constantly changing challenges of a 24/7-operation.
Does so much variety appeal to you too? Then simply apply to join us.
Yours Irene Komma
