Read MoreSensors are now adding functionality, reducing power consumption and offering more and more convenient features in a wide range of mobile devices such as cell phones, handhelds and digital cameras.

The most widely used sensors are the ones that adjust display backlighting according to ambient lighting conditions. Relatively new are orientation sensors that detect whether a mobile device is being held vertically or horizontally. Hall sensors and mechanical switches will to some extent be replaced by optical reflective solutions, and proximity sensors are used to detect users in the close vicinity of the device.

OSRAM Sensors meet the special requirements for mobile devices such as small packages and low power consumption. For easier use, many of them have a digital output.
