The image quality of a TV should always be as close to reality as possible. After all, so many emotions reach us through our TV, i.e. movies, sport events or music concerts. And that's where LEDs from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors get into the game. By replacing cold cathode fluorescent lamps with our Golden DRAGON ARGUS, you can achieve bright vivid color images on the screen and realize innovative, slim and efficient designs. By using individually controllable red, green and blue Golden DRAGON ARGUS, you can mix any color you desire and even different shades of white. The color gamut even exceeds NTSC.

The special ARGUS optic spreads the light over a wide area by emitting the light sideways over the surface and allows for homogenous backlighting. At the same time this also enables flat backlights of 40 mm. Moreover the Golden DRAGON ARGUS has low power consumption due to a very low forward voltage. Because of the high efficiency of the system, the temperature doesn't exceed 60°C and hence active cooling is not required

The Golden DRAGON ARGUS enables infinitely scalable, high-intensity backlighting systems, which even allow uniform illumination of door-size backlights. At SID 2006 OSRAM Opto Semiconductors showed a 102" backlight using 1732 Golden DRAGON ARGUS consuming 1500 W, which achieved a luminance on diffusor of 6000 nits (cd/m²).
